Smarkets enters Swedish market

Betting exchange operator Smarkets will be the second licensed betting exchange in Sweden after gaining a licence from the country’s regulator.

Sweden.- Smarkets has launched in Sweden after gaining a five-year iGaming licence for its dot.com site from the country’s regulator, Spelinspelktionen.

It becomes the second licensed betting exchange in Sweden alongside Betfair.

London-based Smarkets is rapidly developing an international presences, with this being its second launch in two months.

It launched its fixed-odds SBK sportsbook app in the US in Colorado in June, and plans to go live in Indiana later in the year.

The operator is also certified by the British Gambling Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority.

Founder and Chief Executive, Jason Trost, said: “We know that customers in Sweden have been eagerly anticipating us going live, so I’m very excited to launch the Smarkets exchange there.

Sweden has now issued licences to 98 operators since opening regulated online gambling at the start of last year.
