Slovakian regulator and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Health Care of Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra have entered into a strategic partnership

The Gambling Regulatory Authority has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra to integrate regulatory practice with academic training for future social workers and psychologists.

Slovakia.- The Slovakian Gambling Regulatory Authority (URHH) has officially signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Faculty of Social Sciences and Health Care of Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. The aim is to connect regulatory practice with the academic training of future social workers and psychologists, who play a key role in protecting vulnerable groups of the population.

The memorandum opens the door to systematic education on the social impacts of gambling. Students of psychology and social work will gain access to up-to-date knowledge through expert lectures and workshops focused on gambling regulation, addiction prevention, responsible gambling, and new forms of gambling in the digital environment. The cooperation also includes expert consultations on final theses, participation in scientific conferences, and joint analysis of social trends in the field of gambling.

Libuša Baranová, director general of the Gambling Regulatory Authority, said: “Our goal is to build a safe and responsible gambling market, which requires a deep understanding of social processes.

“Social workers and psychologists are frontline professionals who perceive gambling in the broader context of family and community. I believe that by combining our expertise with the academic background of Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, we will create an effective pillar of protection and help future professionals better identify and address the social risks posed by the digital age.”

Prof. Tomáš Sollár, dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Health Care at CPU in Nitra, added: “Supporting people in difficult situations, whether social or health-related, is among our priorities. This partnership strengthens the connection between education and practice and helps us train professionals who will be able to effectively protect vulnerable groups in contemporary society.”

The cooperation between the regulator and another prominent Slovak university sets a new standard in the field of prevention and public education. Through this partnership, the Gambling Regulatory Authority reaffirms its long-term strategy, in which educating future teachers and professional staff is the most effective path towards a safer social environment.
