Seminole tribe bets against casinos
Florida State’s Seminole tribe is attempting to keep its monopoly in the local gaming market.
US.- An official statement has revealed that the Seminole Native Tribe of Florida State is lobbying against gaming expansion as legislators are debating different proposals to increase or reduce the licensed market. The tribe is one of the few operators currently working in Florida, offering casino services in different salons, but especially in the renowned Hard Rock Café.
“The tribe gave $1 million in October to the group Voters in Charge, which wants Floridians to pass a constitutional amendment in 2018 that would require voter approval for new casinos,” revealed the announcement. The lobbying group also receives millionaire funds by Disney Company, as the familiar entertainment group seeks keeping the region free of adult services.
According to officials: “As of October 31st, the committee had raised a total of $4.1 million as financial back-up to the proposed constitutional amendment, while the reported amount spent is estimated to approximately $3.44 million. If successful, the initiative could change the Constitution of the state and provide local voters with the exclusive right to make decisions related to casino gambling authorisation in Florida.”
The Seminole Tribe of Florida and Hard Rock International have also unveiled last month the progress of their upcoming gambling facility that will be located in Hollywood, Florida. The biggest surprise if that the building will be guitar-shaped to honor Hard Rock’s original design. The operators want to keep the monopoly of Florida’s gaming market.
