Schenectady casino is ahead of schedule
If the construction of Rivers casino keeps the pace and the weather cooperates, the casino may be complete by March 2017.
US.- The projected Rivers casino’s construction in Schenectady is ahead of schedule. At this pace, the gambling facility will be opening its doors in March 2017.
David Buicko, President and CEO of The Galesi Group explained that “This whole project started before the casino. There was over a million square feet of buildings we had to tear down. This was an abandoned factory.”
The development will include a 163-room hotel and banquet hall capable of hosting 600 people. Furthermore, the Galesi Group broke ground on a US$150 million project adjacent to the casino, which includes a 124-room courtyard by Marriott, retail shops and a mix of condos, town houses and apartments.
Regarding he casino, Joe Scibetta, Vice President of Operations Rush Street Gaming said: “We’ll have 1,050 slot machines, 63 tables, 16 poker tables and an entertainment lounge.”
Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul visited the site and took a look at the progress. “This is a great day,” expressed Hochul. “I just wanted a progress report and I feel very confident that we are on schedule and the future of the area is very bright.”
