US.- Rhode Island’s sports betting handle rose substantially in July as sportsbooks in casinos reopened and rules on in-person registration were lifted.
Figures are still low on a year-on-year basis, since casino sportsbooks only reopened on July 22, but the handle increased by 231.5 per cent on June July, as sportsbooks in casinos reopened.
Reports from the Rhode Island Lottery show a mobile wagering handle of $4.4m, up 109.5 per cent from June’s $2.1m.
Gov. Gina Raimondo’s signed legislation to lift compulsory in-person registration on July 22.
As a consequence, those who want to place sports bets can now do so from any location within the state without having to visit one of the two casinos: Twin River Casino Hotel in Lincoln or the Tiverton Casino Hotel.
