Rhode Island sports betting breaks records in November
Sports betting in Rhode Island reached a peak in November 2020, with the highest recorded revenue since October.
US.- According to state regulators, November 2020 was a record-breaking month for sports betting in Rhode Island in terms of both revenue and handle.
Figures released by the Rhode Island Lottery show the state generated $6.3m in sports betting revenue in November, exceeding the previous record of $4.4m set in October by 43%.
Sports betting handle also went up to $35.1m, an 11.4 per cent year-over-year increase from November 2019.
The two Twin River casinos in the state produced $19.4m of the handle and mobile sportsbooks $15.7m.
Mobile sports betting was legalised in Rhode Island in 2019, and since then it has received opposition from Republican activist Daniel Harrop.
But in June last year, a state judge rejected Harrop’s request to halt sports betting in casinos and online.
