Rhode Island Senate interested in mobile sports betting

The president of the Senate said he is interested in introducing a bill to allow the modality in the state.

US.- Democratic Senate President Dominick Ruggerio revealed on Thursday that he is working on a legislation to allow people to place bets on sports in Rhode Island. The state debuted its sports betting market on Monday.

Ruggerio said that the bill will be introduced when the legislative session starts again in January. He is one of the most important advocates for legalised sports betting in the legislature, as he has lobbied for the legalisation and regulation for several years.

The sports betting market in Rhode Island was launched on Monday at the Twin River Casino in Lincoln. The Senate president said that mobile sports betting would help the state generate more revenue, and commented that the modality could include creating an account through the Twin River Casino website.
