Rhode Island opens sports betting market
The state is set to launch its market today at the Twin River Casino in Lincoln.
US.- Ever since the US Supreme Court lifted the federal ban on sports betting several states have been discussing the possibility of legalising the segment. Rhode Island will now debut its market at the Twin River Casino in Lincoln.
The sports betting lounge will open today at the casino in Lincoln, after several delays that forced authorities to modify the date. The initial launch was expected on October 1st, while it was later pushed to “around Thanksgiving” and then announced it would debut on December.
The latest reports indicate that the opening will take place at 3 pm ET, and will count with the presence of Rhode Island Senate President Dominick Ruggerio, who pushed for the legalisation of sports betting in the state earlier this year. He will be joined by House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello and Chairman of Twin River John Taylor. The three of them have said that if they manage to score any winnings during the event, the money will be donated to a charity of their choice.
