The Dutch regulator has warned operators again, regarding online gambling advertising and reminding them it jeopardises license applications.
The Netherlands. The Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) issued a guideline on advertising urging operators to avoid promoting participation in gaming and outlines that advertising must direct consumers to legal sites only.
The new regulation applies to all operators and all types of gambling in the Netherlands, although for the time being it will only benefit land-based operators, pending the opening of the online gambling market.
Since laws that regulate online gambling in the Netherlands have yet to go into effect, all online gambling is still deemed illegal and advertising on all online gambling is currently prohibited. The regulator is designed to ensure that operators are aware of the rules governing advertising and their implications but it also acknowledges that gaming advertising is key for both consumers and operators.
