Rank Group, which operates Grosvenor Casinos and Mecca Bingo in the UK, has named TUI executive Katie McAlister as a non-executive director.

UK.- Rank Group, the London Stock Exchange-listed operator behind the Grosvenor Casinos and Mecca Bingo chains in the UK and Enracha in Spain, has appointed Katie McAlister to its board of directors as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

She will also serve on Rank’s nominations, safer gambling and remuneration committees.

McAlister is currently chief marketing officer for the northern region at travel company TUI. That role entails responsibility for sales and marketing for the UK, Irish and Nordic markets.

She has 13 years of digital and marketing experience, leading programmes for digital transformation and business change, Rank said.

Alex Thursby, chairman of the board of directors, said: “We are delighted to welcome Katie to the Rank board. Her extensive background in digital marketing, together with her customer-focused strategic experience, will be a real asset. The board and I are very much looking forward to working with her over the coming years.”

McAlister’s appointment comes after Rank announced results showing that the UK’s winter Covid-19 lockdown wiped out quarterly revenue for its 52 Grosvenor Casinos and 77 Mecca bingo venues in the UK.

Rank recently sold the remains of its Belgian casino business in order to boost liquidity.
