Poker to return to MGM Springfield but with restrictions
MGM Springfield has begun removing slot machines from its poker room.
US.- MGM Springfield has announced the return of poker to the casino. It said it had begun removing about 20 per cent of the slot machines from its former poker room in preparation for the reintroduction of the game.
MGM Springfield told the Massachusetts Gaming Commission last month that it plans to reintroduce poker by the end of this year but at a reduced capacity. A casino official said players can expect about 10 to 12 tables instead of the former 28.
Poker had been prohibited by the commission when regulators first allowed venues to reopen under health and safety restrictions in 2020. MGM Springfield has also reintroduced a requirement for guests to wear face masks in keeping with a local mandate.
