Poker market grows in Maryland

The state four poker rooms reported strong revenues as they achieved a 33 percent increase year-on-year.

US.- Poker in Maryland has been growing consistently as the four poker rooms in the state managed to achieve an impressive 33 percent increase in September when compared to the same period last year.

Local gaming regulators unveiled the figures that show that the poker rooms generated US$3.6 million in revenue from their tables in September, very close to January’s record when they raked in US$3.92 million, also a 33 percent increase year-over-year. During the first nine months of 2017, the rooms collected US$33.5 million, CardPlayer reported.

One of the reasons why the poker industry in Maryland has been reporting good results is the December 2016 opening of the MGM National Harbor, which features 39 tables and collected US$1.7 million in September. Maryland Live!, the biggest facility in the state generated US$1.4 million from its 52 poker tables, whilst Horseshoe Casino Baltimore’s 23-table poker room reported US$436k. Hollywood Casino Perryville generated US$94k.
