PhilWeb seeks to expand its licence
Gaming company PhilWeb Corp. asked the Philippine government for an extension of its current licence.
Philippines.- The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) is in negotiations with the gaming technology company PhilWeb Corp. in order to potentially extend the operator’s services to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) licensees without becoming a POGO operator as well.
According to a statement published last Monday by PhilWeb Corp., the company is interested in serving the gaming software needs to POGO operators in the legal Philippine market. PhilWeb President Dennis Valdes confirmed the company’s negotiation with the Philippine gaming authority on the legalities and requirements to extend its current gaming technology licence.
“We are not opposed to being a service provider for POGO. There are a lot of players servicing China, Malaysia and Indonesia,” Valdes said. However, he also clarified that PhilWeb Corp. is not interested in becoming a POGO operator as well.
“We are pleasantly surprised that the combination of two pieces of gaming software has not resulted in one cannibalizing the other, but instead, has resulted in growth for both sets of games,” Valdes said in a statement. “We intend to use this learning to continue to introduce new gaming software to our pool of customers, so that we can continue to attract new players to our eGames outlets.”
