PhilWeb asks for e-Games permit renewal

The Philippines company asked the national gaming regulator to renew its license to operate e-Games parlors.

Philippines.- A letter from PhilWeb stated that several senior executives met with Pagcor representatives to formally submit PhilWeb’s application for a renewal of its intellectual property license and management agreement in connection with the operation of e-Games network.

“Mr Gregorio Ma. Araneta III and Mr Dennis O. Valdes, chairman and president of PhilWeb Corp, respectively, met with representatives of Pagcor to submit the former’s application for a renewal of its license,” the letter said.

A couple of months earlier, Pagcor announced that they would not renew PhilWeb’s right to run a network of gaming parlors that offer online games. After President Rodrigo Duterte criticised former PhilWeb chairman Roberto Ongpin, and said that he was an “oligarch”, PhilWeb decided to change its leadership.

Earlier this month the company stated that they transitioned to a new and better leadership and said that they intended to ask Pagcor for permission to restart operations of electronic games parlors.
