Philippines could have a new casino
Cebu City in the Philippines is evaluating the approval of another casino project.
Philippines.- A new casino could be installed in the Philippines city of Cebu, as the local Council has received the project presented by Philippines-based Universal Hotels and Resorts Inc. The latest gaming salon in the Philippines is expected to be constructed in a Cebu area called South Road Properties.
Universal Hotels and Resorts Inc is planning to install the “integrated resort and casino facility” in a land reclamation area on the outskirts of Cebu City. The City Council has recently endorsed the proposal. The gaming salon could be installed at the southern part of the metro area in South Road Properties.
“[It is] a world-class development that will stand as a landmark in the Visayas Region and the country. We submitted an unsolicited proposal for the city’s kind consideration,” said Universal Hotels’ president Frederick Go in a letter to the council.
During the ballot in the Cebu City Council, the casino project received 5 negative votes, but was able to be endorsed by the local authority as 7 representatives chose to pass the proposal. Now the casino must be approved also by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (Pagcor), under the Philippine gaming law.
