Galaxy Ent’s partner acquires land in Boracay
Galaxy Entertainment Group’s Philippine partner has acquired land on the island of Boracay.
Philippines.- The Philippine press has officially announced that Galaxy Entertainment Group’s local partner has acquired land on the island of Boracay. According to the reports, the acquisition is allegedly related to the installation of a new casino in the country. Galaxy Entertainment Group has had several attempts at opening a casino resort in the area.
“They have already acquired, I think, around 23 hectares in that area as of this time,” Rowen Aguirre, municipal executive assistant for Boracay affairs told CNN’s “The Source”, according to Philstar. “I’ve heard that they’re still in negotiations with several other property owners for additional acquisition.”
Meanwhile, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.’s (PAGCOR) chairwoman Andrea Domingo has denied recent claims that Galaxy Entertainment Group would abandon its integrated resort project in Boracay. She stated that there’s still a final decision to be made on the issue and denied any formal communication between PAGCOR and the Secretary of Tourism on the matter.
Tourism Assistant Secretary Frederick Alegre was the official who generated the controversy after he told news reporters that the companies involved in the Boracay project were going to drop the project: “Galaxy has said they are now looking for another venue. That is very much welcome,” local media quoted.
