Philippines to investigate casino mogul
The investigation was required by Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte.
Philippines.- Jack Lam, international casino mogul, will be investigated in the Philippines as the national president, Rodrigo Duterte, requested. The Asian authorities suspect that the entrepreneur may have avoided tax payments. The news came a few days after the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) granted Lam a “perpetual” casino license.
Lam is the chairman of Jimei International Entertainment Group, one of the biggest global casino operator with renowned operations in the Asian continent, such in Philippine and Macau’s casinos.
According to local newspaper, Duterte commented that Lam’s company has been paying taxes online for bets set by Philippine residents, but not for foreign players that are active and authorised clients on the online casino website.
