PGCB shares sports betting revenue report

The board released the revenue results for the sports betting industry’s performance in December.

US.- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) posted the December monthly report for sports betting operations in the state, which includes the full month and partial returns from three different facilities in Pennsylvania.

The report includes full month returns from Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course and partial month returns from SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia and Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, which both started sports betting operations on December 15, 2018.

Total revenue from sports betting in Pennsylvania recorded US$2 million, half of it from Rivers Casino, US$641k from SugarHouse and US$299k from Hollywood Casino. Ricers Casino’s handle was US$5.58 million, while SugarHouse and Hollywood Casino’s were US$5.3 million and US$5 million respectively.

A total of US$722k of tax revenue was generated and returned to the Commonwealth from sports wagering during December 2018: State Tax (which is 34% of adjusted gross revenue) totalled US$682k, and Local Share Assessment (2% of adjusted gross revenue) was US$40.1k.
