Pennsylvania rejects budget
The budget plan has been cancelled last week, as the economic situation got worse in Pennsylvania.
US.- Pennsylvania has entered another economic controversial, as the House of Representatives has not passed the expected revenue package that was supposed to fund the state’s budget proposal. “A gaming package has appeared to be unlikely to advance on its own. Now it at least seems feasible that the budget battle — and online gambling — could get kicked down the road to 2018,” explains Online Poker Report.
“The state government had been waiting on House Republican leadership to produce a revenue package that will fund a US$2 billion-plus shortfall in the budget. All sides had been sounding positive notes on a deal coming to fruition this week,” revealed the local newspaper.
Pennsylvania is set to approve soon an expected gaming expansion that includes online gaming platforms, video gaming terminals and daily fantasy sports. The state’s Senate will begin its September session with debates about iGaming legislation.
“I guess we should thank the House for bringing this issue to light, though I find it disturbing that members of this legislature may have known about possible illegal gaming machines and done nothing about it,” Pennsylvania Senator and Chairman of Senate Law & Justice Committee Chuck McIlhinney commented in a recent statement.
