Stadium Casino LLC granted with the second license to operate a mini-casino in Pennsylvania.

US.- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board granted the second license to operate mini-casinos in the state this week. The winning bidder was local company Stadium Casino LLC, which will also operate the upcoming Live! Hotel and Casino in Philadelphia. The company’s mini casino will be set in Westmoreland County.

“We are thrilled on behalf of Stadium Casino LLC to have been awarded a new gaming license in western Pennsylvania in the greater Pittsburgh area and look forward to delivering a world-class gaming and entertainment venue,” Stadium Casino spokesperson Carmen E. Gonzales said in a statement. “Thousands of new excellent jobs will be created, millions of dollars in new tax revenues will flow to the state and local government entities and millions of visitors will be attracted, which will benefit both the local community and the other businesses in the area.”

The company’s larger venue will require the investment of US$600 million and will be opened by 2020. Meanwhile, Stadium Casino LLC bid $40.1 million for the license of the mini-casino, which will be located near Derry Township.

Local gaming authorities will continue with auctions this week. The minimum bid is US$7.5 million to operate up to 750 slot machines, making US$50 million an eye-popping amount. The winner can submit another US$2.5 million for a table-game license. Eight more auctions, with one winner announced at each, will be held until May 16. The state budget assumes all 10 mini-casino and table-game licenses will be sold, generating US$100 million in tax revenue.
