Pennsylvania gaming revenue up 31% in August

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has reported revenue of $408m.

US.- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board posted reports today on its website that show that the combined total revenue in August 2021 generated from all forms of gaming regulated by the Board along with fantasy contests was $408,092,073.  

That represents an increase of over 31% over total revenue in August 2020 of $310,717,728, US.- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has reported sports betting revenue of $408m for August, up 31 per cent over from August 2020, but down from July’s record-breaking $423.8m.

Sources of gaming revenue regulated by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board include slot machines, table games, internet casino-type gaming (iGaming), sports wagering, fantasy contests and video gaming terminals (VGTs).

Slot machine revenue

August’s gross revenue from slot machines was $209,820,720 an increase of 26% when compared to August 2020. The number of slot machines in operation in August 2021 was 26,017. Tax revenue from the play of slots machines in August 2021 was $106,964,678.

Table games revenue

Table games revenue for August 2021 was $86,313,388 a 33% increase over August 2020 when table games revenue was $65,119,689.

Internet casino-type gaming (iGaming) revenue

Casino-type games offered online generated gross revenue of $88,719,021 during August 2021 an increase of 59% when compared to $55,942,525 in August 2020. Tax revenue generated from iGaming play during August 2021 was $39,364,095.

Sports Wagering Revenue

Taxable revenue during August 2021 for sports wagering was $18,007,244, compared to $18,274,075 in August of last year, a decrease of 1.5%.

Video Gaming Terminals

Total adjusted revenue for August 2021 for video gaming terminals (VGTs) was $3,621,722 an 61% increase when compared to August 2020 when revenue was $2,247,898. By the close of August 2021, four VGT Terminal Operators were operating the maximum permitted five machines at 58 truck stop establishments.

That represents a total of 290 VGTs in operation statewide.

Fantasy Contests

Fantasy Contests revenue was $1,609,978 in August 2021, a decrease of 25% over August 2020, when revenue was $2,134,494.
