Pennsylvania gaming revenue hits new state records
Like many other US states, Pennsylvania saw an increase in sports betting and igaming in December 2020.
US.- Sports betting and igaming hit new records in Pennsylvania in December, showing a recovery after a drop in November.
The state’s sports betting handle reached $548.6m, up 11.5 per cent from $491.9m in November 2020 and up 60.1 per cent from $342.6m in December 2019.
December’s handle broke the state record set in October 2020.
Mobile platforms accounted for 97.6 per cent of the wagers made, fitting in with the trend of increased mobile gambling in other states.
Despite increased gambling activity, the state of Pennsylvania saw an 8.8 per cent decline in taxable sports betting revenue, which reached a total of $34.1m.
Online gambling in Pennsylvania generated revenues of $71.6m, topping the previous record of $59.8m set in November. The figure represents a 730.2 per cent increase from $10.6m in December 2019.
Rivers Casino Philadelphia generated the highest igaming revenues at $19.3m, followed by Penn National via DraftKings.com at $13.7m and Valley Forge Casino Resort at $1.2m.
