Parx casino to open sportsbook in Pennsylvania

The Bensalem facility will become the second in operation in Philadelphia as it’s scheduled to open its sportsbook on Tuesday.

US.- The Philadelphia area will feature two sportsbooks on Tuesday, as Parx casino in Bensalem is preparing to officially launch its services. Operations will be monitored by regulators for two days.

The Bensalem sportsbook will feature seven teller windows and 26 self-serve kiosks placed in the casino. The facility revamped a lounge area in order to accommodate sports betting, but it will move into a permanent area in the spring. The sportsbook will be operated by Kambi, which also runs the sports betting operations at SugarHouse casino in Fishtown.

Matthew Cullen, senior vice president of interactive gaming and sports, said that they’re still on the works for online and mobile betting operations. He added that football could boost operations significantly if local team Philadelphia Eagles win the next few games. “The market is insane for [the Eagles], as we’ve seen at the SugarHouse and at Rivers [in Pittsburgh] and in New Jersey,” Cullen said. “But even if they’re out, people are still gonna want to bet [on football]. But it would be great if they were playing.”
