Pagcor will resume online gambling under stricter regimen
Regulators will allow online gambling to resume but they will prevent operations near schools and churches.
Philippines.- The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) announced that online gambling will be permitted to resume under stricter enforcement that will keep gaming cafes within 200 meters from churches and schools.
Assistant VP for community relations and services of Pagcor, Arnell Ignacio, said: “Enforcement measures would be strictly applied, with consequences for any non-compliance.” Ignacio also said that they intend to open the online gambling industry to more players but only under very stringent measures.
“Casinos in the philippines have begun their recovery from low earnings.” Ignacio explained that they’re no longer in a bad position and that they’re recovering with the way the board and the chairman are running Pagcor. The Assistant VP didn’t clarify what will happen to operators that were refused licensing renewals or the ones who had permits withdrawn in the last couple of months.
