Pagcor sets new measures
The local gaming regulator revealed that its new Monitoring Team agents will evaluate iGaming operations.
Philippines.- The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) has recently revealed new measures to control the iGaming business related to offshore operators. The Pagcor Monitoring Team (PMT) agents will be in charge of new on-site controls over the online gaming industry in Philippines.
A few months ago, Pagcor announced its plan to introduce a new type of online gambling license that would include operators that offer sports betting in markets regulated by foreign bodies. Now authorised Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) will respond to PMT agents, according to Calvin Ayre.
The agents will review the POGO licensees’ business process outsourcing (BPO) operations and their online gaming platforms and providers. The PMT officials will also assess the legislative compliance by offshore gaming operators as to “rules and regulations which may be issued by PAGCOR from time to time.”
Last month, Pagcor released a document announcing the opening of a bidding process for consultants to take over the development, management and operation of an intermediation platform for its POGO licenses. The manager is set to be in charge of creating the intermediation platform in order to comply with PAGCOR’s needs related to the POGO licenses and its necessities. The management process is expected to last ten years.
