Oregon sports betting handle up 84.1% in August
Scoreboard, the only sports betting site and app in the state, saw revenue climbed by 65.7 per cent.
US.- Oregon’s sports betting handle reached $25.8m for August, representing an 84.1 per cent increase on July.
The return of major sports leagues accounted for the rise, with NBA playoffs, NHL playoffs and MLB games held in August. Basketball generated the most wagers, raking in almost $14m.
The Oregon Lottery’s SBTech-powered Scoreboard is the only sports betting site and app in the state. It saw revenue of $1.7m for August, an increase of 65.7 per cent from July.
The only competition faced by Scoreboard comes from the two tribal casinos in the state, which have launched on-site sportsbooks. Their figures are not publicly available.
Other states in the US have also reported substantial growth in their sports betting handles for August. Mississippi reported a 400 per cent rise month-on-month.
