Online sports betting grows in Italy
New figures revealed that the online industry registered a double digit growth compared to the year before.
Italy.- Italian online sports book have reported US$510 million last month, a 44.5 percent higher than the same month during 2016. Whilst multiple online sites experienced a significant gain, bet365 was the biggest collector with a 33 percent of the online wagering.
According to local news outlet Agimet, the following top scorer was Eurobet, the online sports company from Ladbrokes Coral, which reported a handle of US$49 million last month. Sisal, Snaitech and William Hill complete the top 5 list. Online casino followed the good results with a 30.3 percent increase over the same period with US$39 million: Lottomatica reported the 10.7 percent of the market, followed by Sisal with 8.7 percent, PokerStars with a 7.8 percent and William Hill 5.8 percent.
Online poker games experienced mixed results, since tournaments fees grew 16 percent to US$7.8 million, but game stakes were down 4 percent to US$6.4 million in March, with PokerStars once again leading the list with a 46.2 percent share of the market.
