Online market shows good signs in Italy

The Italian online gambling sector had a good month-over-month performance in November.

Italy.- According to the latest figures released by Italy’s AAMS gambling regulator, online gambling operators registered a good performance in November when compared to the previous month. Online sports betting was the vertical that posted the biggest revenue.

Online and land-based sports betting licensees totalled €148.5 million in revenue in November, up from the €133.7 million that was registered the previous month and a slight increase from November 2017’s €147 million.

Online sportsbooks totalled €65.1 million in revenue during November’s operations, which represents a 5% year-on-year increase, while the retail sector reported a 2% decrease to €83.4 million. Year-to-date results indicate that the betting market is up 23.8% to €1.4 billion, the online sector increased by 25.5% to €594 million and retail rose 22% to €792 million.

Moreover, online casino revenue posted a 14% hike to €57.2 million, with The Stars Group grabbing the biggest share of the segment with a 10.6%, and followed by Lottomatica with 9.2%.
