Okada cleared of fraud complaints

The casino tycoon was cleared by Philippine prosecutors of fraud accusations.

Philippines.- Philippine prosecutors in Parañaque City and Makati have dropped fraud and perjury complaints against Japanese casino tycoon Kazuo Okada. Tiger Resorts Leisure and Entertainment had filed a complaint that said that the CEO made false allegations against the company.

Makati prosecutors cleared Okada of any wrongdoing as it cited lack of evidence in relations to complaints filed by Tiger Resorts. Parañaque prosecutors also dismissed a fraud complaint related to the alleged award of a major supply contract at Okada Manila by Okada to one of his own companies, Aruze Philippines Manufacturing Inc.

The decision comes in the middle of another controversy, as the resolution was leaked on social media days before its official publication. Tiger Resort asked Parañaque City Prosecutor Amerhassan Paudac to recuse himself from the case, and then filed a motion that accused him of bias and “gross partiality.”

“There is a factual and legal basis to believe that City Prosecutor Paudac is biased and partial in favour of respondent Okada to the grave prejudice of complainant Tiger Resort,” said the company.

Tiger Resorts, operator of Okada Manila, is a subsidiary of Universal Entertainment Corp, the company that fired Kazuo Okada from its board late last year after he was linked to multiple fraudulent activity allegations.
