New York sports betting revenue falls month-on-month

While sports betting revenues remained up against 2019, figures for December were down month-over-month compared with November 2020.

US.- Regulators in New York have reported a monthly decline in sports betting revenue for December 2020.

According to the New York State Gaming Commission, gross gaming revenue totalled $2.3m in December, down by $360,905 from the $2.6m earned in November 2020.

Revenues remained up year-on-year, with an increase of $740,418 compared with figures from December 2019.

December was the third month in a row during which New York casinos were in full operation after months of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The casino which contributed the most revenue was Rush Street’s Rivers Casino and Resort which brought in $949,804 from sports betting.

The del Lago Resort and Casino followed with $922,718 in revenue from its DraftKings sportsbook.

Mobile sports betting is not yet legal in the state, but last week Governor Andrew Cuomo finally expressed support for legalisation.
