New York moves towards online gambling legalisation
The unanimously approval of the S5302B bill paved the way to legalise online poker.
US.- State Senator John Bonacic introduced the S5302B, last year. The bill aims to legalise and regulate a number of games of skill. Las months, the legislation was unanimously approved by members of the Senate Racing, Gaming, and Wagering Committee, chaired by Sen. Bonacic.
The S5302B points to the legalisation of certain games of skill, like poker, in the state of New York, contains regulations for the industry regarding how operators would be licensed and how they would be taxed and, in addition, in includes provisions to protect vulnerable players.
After the committee’s approval, the bill was passed to the Finance Committee, where members will discuss it and vote on it. Sen. Bonacic expects both Houses to discuss the bill as this year’s legislative session progresses.
In the next months, S5302B may be signed into law after its success in the Senate Racing, Gaming, and Wagering Committee.
