New tribal casino to open in North Carolina
The Catawba Indian Nation has announced the opening of its casino near Charlotte, in North Carolina.
US.- A new tribal casino is to open in North Carolina, operated by the Catawba Indian Nation.
The tribe has announced it will open its temporary 500-slot gaming facility at Two Kings Casino Resort in Kings Mountain this Thursday, just in time for the reopening of casinos after Covid-19 closures.
The venue is located about 35 miles west of Charlotte. It will open 24 hours and will feature slot machines from seven manufacturers, a snack bar and a service bar.
A ceremonial ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 9.30am on Thursday morning, according to leaders of the Rock Hill, South Carolina-based tribe.
Work on a larger permanent casino building is scheduled to begin by the end of the year on already cleared land near the current facility. It’s expected to take about a year to finish, according to the project consultant, Delaware North.
The permanent venue will include about 1,300 slot machines, along with table games, a restaurant and a bar. It will form the first part of the planned $273m Two Kings Casino Resort, for which no construction timetable is set.
