New plans for Manila casino
Resorts World Manila announced construction plans to restore the touristic facility.
Philippines.- Resorts World Manila is open again and with new plans to revamp the floors that were damaged during the shooting. The second floor, where the massacre occurred, will be destined to non-gaming activities, whilst the first and third floors will only hold casino operations, according to the company’s plans.
Travellers International Hotel Group Inc, Resorts World Manila’s operator, revealed to the Philippine Stock Exchange the construction plans this week, after the Philippine government allowed the re-inauguration of the facility. “With PAGCOR’s assistance and guidance, we can now start the difficult task of rebuilding as it is also our responsibility to take care of our 6,000 staff and personnel,” commented Kingson Sian, CEO and President of RWM.
The revamping plans also include security requirements to control the entry to the casino and hotel. Pagcor established several recommendations to make sure touristic venues are safe enough to prevent further incidents.
Resorts World Manila had closed its doors for two weeks after the government announced the investigations related to the deadly shooting held by Jessie Javier Carlos, a 42-year-old local who had a gambling addiction. The company revealed after the attack that the second floor of the gaming area has been severely damaged due to some fires started by the problem gambler who killed 37 people and then shot himself. Last week, the gaming venue was reopened under Pagcor’s approval.
