New ‘dot Bet’ domain name to be introduced by Afilias

The registration has already begun and it is initially limited to trademark holders.

Ireland.- Afilias, the domain registry operator, will introduce a new internet address designed for the betting, gambling and gaming sectors: ‘dot BET.’

Initially, the registration for the domain will be limited to eligible trademark holders. Until February 4th. the companies will have time to apply for the new address.

Then, from February 8th to February 12th, “dot BET” domains will be available using a Dutch Auction format. During the auction, available names will start at a maximum price, which will in turn be lowered in decrements daily as registrants decide at what price point they wish to register. Open registration for the new domain will commence on March 3rd.

Afilias Chief marketing officer Roland LaPlante stated: “Afilias is excited to introduce .BET, the new top level domain created for the sports betting and online gambling community.” The representative also explained that “.BET is the ideal Internet address for all games of chance and wagering activities both on and offline.Everything from sports betting to casino-style gaming can benefit from a .BET address.”
