New casino bill in Elliniko, Athens
The bill that was submitted in Parliament includes the issuing of a casino license in Elliniko.
Greece.- A bill that focuses on electronic transactions and bankruptcy cose was submitted in Parliament in Athens, Greece. The bill also contains an arrangement for the issuing of a casino license for the development of an old airport in Elliniko.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the casino license will be granted for the metropolitan center in the Athens suburb. The draft law establishes that the concession will be conducted via an international tender. In the same bill the ministry allows the relocation of the Mont Parnes casino from Parnitha to a different area beyond the limits of the City of Athens.
The transfer will take place after a decision from the gaming regulator from Greece (EEEP), who has time until mid 2018, 18 months after the passing of the bill. According to Ekathimerini, the relocation will be conducted in a similar way as one recently made in Thrace and Thessaloniki.
Last month, Europe’s fourth biggest betting firm OPAP confirmed that they will launch video lottery terminals in Greece by March 2017. OPAP announced that they will unfreeze its plans to launch VLTs in Greece, and multiple analysts specified that this could be a breaking point for the company’s future growth.
