Great Britain’s Gambling Commission and New South Wales’s Office of Responsible Gambling (Australia) are the winners in IAGR’s inaugural awards program, the International Regulatory Awards

Press release.- The winners in IAGR’s inaugural awards program were announced last night at a Gala Dinner in Boston during the annual IAGR conference

The awards aim to recognise exceptional regulators who are helping to drive the industry forward. They were judged by a committee made up of IAGR Trustees and independent stakeholders.

The Gambling Commission took home the award for Regulatory Excellence for their wide-scale collaboration with industry on three areas of concern, leading to a fast track of consumer protection changes.

“The Regulatory Excellence award recognises an outstanding contribution to gambling regulation,” explains Catherine Myers, IAGR Trustee and CEO of the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation in Australia.

“The Gambling Commission’s nomination showcased how they worked closely with the industry to protect consumers from the risk of gambling harm. Their unique entry demonstrated the real impact it had made in changing gaming behaviour.”

The Office of Responsible Gambling’s sports betting campaign received the award for Best Regulatory Campaign

“We looked for a campaign that could demonstrate it had been successful in promoting safer and responsible play,” says Myers.

“The judges felt the Office of Responsible Gambling’s campaign was a fresh, novel approach to addressing safer gaming. The nomination successfully demonstrated how it was effective, particularly as it was subject to a peer-review process to show how the campaign made use of data and customer insights.

“On behalf of IAGR, I want to congratulate both award winners and thank all those who submitted a nomination,” says Myers. “Your efforts have helped to shine a light on individuals and teams across the globe who work tirelessly to set new standards in regulation in the ever-changing gambling landscape.”
