New appointment for Melco’s Cyprus casino

The company revealed that Craig Robertson Ballantyne will be property president of its Cyprus casino.

Cyprus.- Melco Group announced this week the appointment of Craig Robertson Ballantyne as its new property president of City of Dreams Mediterranean and Casinos. The integrated resort located in Cyprus is expected to open in 2021.

Ballantyne will be in charge of ensuring operations are in compliance with local legislation and regulations, and he will also be in charge of overseeing the management of the resort and employees across all operations.

With extensive experience of over 40 years in the gaming and entertainment industry, Ballantyne is responsible for business development activities and the opening and operations of the temporary casino and four satellite casinos.

“I am honoured that Melco has entrusted me with this challenging project,” Ballantyne said, adding that he will work closely with local authorities in order to help develop the industry in Cyprus.

The integrated resort will feature 70,000 square feet of gaming space, as well as a 6,000-square-foot VIP “Casino in the Sky.” The upcoming casino will be the first to operate in the country. 

The US$573 million first phase will feature 42,000 square feet of meeting space, 500 hotel rooms, 15 food spaces and a water park, a beach club and a spa.
