Nevada gaming regulator allows esports betting

Global sports blackout has forced the regulator to push ahead with plans to permit esports wagers.

US.- The Nevada Gaming Control Board has approved esports betting for the very first time, allowing opertors to accept three types of wager.

This includes: head to head, match winner and overall winner.

In-play bets are prohibited and all wagers must be placed before a contest gets underway.

Bookmakers can offer markets on the following competitions: Overwatch League, League of Legends European Championships and North America League of Legends.

The decision to permit esports betting in the state was accelerated by the suspension of real sports activities globally due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Bookmakers are free to set their own odds but those choosing to offer esports bets must first notify the regulator.
