Netherlands grants horse racing license

The Dutch gaming authorities granted Sportech Racing a license to offer betting on horse racing.

Netherlands.- The UK based sports book operator Sportech Racing obtained the permission to offer its services in the Netherlands after the local gaming authority, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), gave the company a betting on horse racing license.

The company had to submit applications last year in order to be considered to obtain a license. During the same month, Sportech announced that a temporary license that lasted six months was also granted as an extension, at the same time that it was being considered by the authorities to get a permanent one. The new license allows the company to offer the betting services for five years, with the possibility to renew the license after the period is over.

Back in May, the authorities reported new regulatory measures in the Dutch market in order to prevent minors from gambling in the country. KSA said that local domains that redirect to .com gambling sites will be included as illegal, as well as names that are gaming-related. In April, the Dutch gambling authority posted the 2016 annual report that detailed information about the industry, and established that it was necessary an increase on the level of enforcement in the country.
