Lawmakers have tweaked Nebraska’s bill to legalise sports betting, adding an amendment that bans betting on the home games of instate college teams.

US.- Nebraska seems to be reaching a consensus on the regulation of sports betting. Lawmakers have amended a bill that would legalise sports betting in the state, adding a prohibition for bets on the state’s NCAA college teams’ home games.

The latest tweak, proposed by Senator Steve Lathrop, is an attempt to get the votes needed to pass the bill and finally regulate the segment.

Senator Lathrop said: “Am I really happy about that? No. Do I think it’s a compelling thing to do? No I don’t. But we’re makin’ sausage here. And that’s about countin’ votes. And at the end of the day Sen. Briese needs 33 (votes), or this doesn’t go.”

Lathrop also proposed a previous change that ruled out mobile keno betting.
