National Harbor becomes Maryland’s top casino
The newest casino is now the top revenue scorer.
US.- MGM National Harbor, the Maryland casino that opened in December, became the state’s best casino when it comes to revenue in just one full month of operations. Maryland Live had been for a quite long time the most important casino in the area.
Maryland Lottery and Gaming released the numbers on Monday, and showed that the state’s six casinos generated US$126 million in January, a 43 percent higher compared to the results obtained in the same period a year earlier. Without National Harbor’s contributions the remaining five casinos would’ve experienced a 12.5 percent fall year-on-year. The newest casino generated US$48.8 million during its first month, a slight increase from the almost US$42 million reported in December.
Maryland Land collected US$44 million in January, US$4 million less than MGM’s casino, and 15.5 percent less than the amount they reported in January 2016. Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, Rocky Hap Casino Resort and Casino and Ocean Dows also saw an decrease in their revenues in January. MGM National Harbor officials estimate that the casino could generate approximately US$700 million annually by its third year of operation, whilst other sources also expect it to keep cutting revenue from Maryland Live.
