More US companies to land in Tomakomai

Rush Street Gaming and Mohegan are soon to open offices in the city, following Clairvest and Hard Rock’s landing in Hokkaido.

Japan.- The Japanese casino industry is in the making as the final regulation of how and where it will be developed is still being discussed. However, several companies are landing in the country and opening offices in the archipelago to position themselves ahead of the IR licensing process.

In 2018, Clairvest and Hard Rock had already decided to land in Tomakomai city, in the Hokkaido prefecture, as they plan to win an IR bid. However, local newspaper Tomakomai Minpo revealed that more US-based companies have announced their intention to open shop in Japan: Rush Street Gaming and Mohegan.

According to local media, Rush Street Gaming will open its office next December and will only establish one staff member. Mohegan, however, hasn’t set any specific plan yet but it’s expected to establish in Tomakomai in December as well.

While Clairvest has been in the city since January, Hard Rock still has to begin renovation work at its office, which is expected to open soon and have up to three staff members to promote its plans. Meanwhile, Caesars Entertainment and Foxwoods, also interested in a Japan IR, haven’t announced any plans to open an office in the city.
