More casino layoffs in Michigan
Greektown Casino-Hotel in Detroit is to lay off 43 workers.
US.- Greektown Casino-Hotel in Detroit has announced it will lay off 43 workers as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic.
The operator’s vice president, John Drake, said in a letter: “These layoffs at Greektown Casino-Hotel are the unfortunate result of Covid-19 related business circumstances that were sudden, dramatic and beyond our control.
“The impact on our business was not reasonably foreseeable until now.”
The news comes after a competitor, MGM Grand Detroit made 1,100 lay offs. MGM has laid off 18,000 workers across the US.
Casinos in Michigan are currently permitted to operate at 15 per cent capacity.
