Mobile betting to launch in Indiana
Rush Street Interactive and DraftKings announced they are ready to launch mobile betting apps in Indiana as the state regulator approved their operations.
US.- The gambling industry is expanding in the US and sports betting has already gone live in Indiana. That’s why companies are seeking further opportunities in the country to take advantage of the segment.
Ahead of the state’s launch, Rush Street Interactive and DraftKings announced they’d launch mobile betting apps in Indiana. Both operators explained the Indiana Gaming Commission had approved their proposals.
“They can be watching a game and playing along live,” said Paul Lieberman, the chief operating officer for DraftKings. “They can do it at a bar, they can do it at a restaurant.”
Rush Street Interactive President Richard Schwartz explained the segment will attract bettors from nearby states.
“We will target the vast majority of the marketing to people within the state who will have access to begin playing with us as soon as they’re interested,” Schwartz said.
Local market
The sports betting market in Indiana kicked off on September 1. It was after the state’s governor placed the first wager at Indiana Grand Racing and Casino. The Casino Association of Indiana said that the pent up expectation around spots betting has helped generate excitement at new sportsbooks in the state.
In an interview with Inside Indiana Business with Gerry Dick, Chief Executive Officer of the Casino Association of Indiana, Matt Bell, said that the initial reaction from locals confirmed his suspicions that economic impact will be substantial in Indiana thanks to sports betting.
“I think you’ll see additional revenue of more than US$50 million annually once we fully implement sports wagering. It will include mobile wagering offerings in Indiana that are coming sooner rather than later,” said Bell.
