Mississippi sports betting hits annual low

US.- Mississippi’s sports betting handle in August was down 30.1 per cent from July, reaching its lowest total for the year. The handle of $21m was $30m less than in July and down 47.1 per cent from the $40m in bets placed in August 2020.

According to the monthly report from the Mississippi Gaming Commission, sports betting revenue came in at $1m, down 34.7 per cent from July’s $2.8m and down 49.7 per cent from $3m in August 2020.

It was also a bad month for slots and table games revenue, which had increased in July. Slots revenue was $1.99bn, from the $2.56bn in July. August’s table games revenue was $151m, down from July’s $188.6m.
