Mississippi could lead sports betting market
The State of Mississippi could establish one of the most profitable sports betting markets in the US.
US.- Mississippi could be one of the most profitable markets to set legal sports betting operations after the resolution of the US Supreme Court, which is expected to release a resolution on the PASPA (Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act) case in the coming weeks. Gaming and sports attorney Daniel Wallach said on Thursday that Mississippi is “sitting on a gold mine” regarding legal sports betting offerings.
Last week the attorney hosted a panel titled “Sports Betting: Challenges and Opportunities” at the annual Southern Gaming Summit at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi. Mississippi is ready to establish a legal sports betting market by September this year in case the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) amends the PASPA article that prohibits the expansion of sports betting throughout the states, except in Nevada, Oregon, Delaware and Montana.
“Mississippi looms as sports betting giant,” said Wallach, of the firm Becker & Poliakoff. “To make a fitting analogy, Mississippi has a real chance to become the ‘Belle of the Ball’ when it comes to sports betting.”
“Sports betting operators like William Hill and technology providers like Sportradar and Scientific Games are already laying the groundwork. On Thursday, William Hill U.S. CEO Joe Asher sat in on the sports betting panel and discussed his affection for the area and why it could very well be his thriving company’s next big-time market,” revealed the official event’s report.
