Sports betting set to launch in Michigan this month
Head of the Michigan Gaming Control Board believes sports betting will be live ahead of March Madness.
US.- The Michigan Gaming Control Board is working hard to approve licenses for retail sports betting at the three commercial casinos in Detroit, according to local press.
Its intention is to finish in time for the start of the NCAA Basketball tournament, known as March Madness, one of the biggest sports wagering events of the year.
“Right now the only thing they’re waiting for us to approve the couple licenses still outstanding for some of their vendors and the internal control, said Rick Kalm, Executive Director of the Michigan Gaming Control Board, according to WILX 10.
“We’ve been going back and forth with them making sure that the internal controls that they have in place are adequate enough to ensure the integrity of gaming and we’re really close.”
Kalm predicts the casinos will begin operations by the start of March Madness on March 17.
