MGM Springfield’s design changes
The City Council is discussing the MGM Springfield casino’s new site plans.
US.- MGM has proposed to eliminate a 25-story hotel tower, building a six-story hotel instead and switching the site of the hotel from State Street to Main Street.
The City Council will consider a final vote on Monday night on the site plan for the MGM Springfield casino project. Michael Fenton, president of the council said: “It is my expectation that we will take final votes on the casino site plan and amendments to the Host Community Agreement.”
MGM Springfield is a projected US$950 million casino on a three-block, 14.5 acre site in the South End. The casino operator is proposing to demolish some of the buildings on the site and renovating others for the gambling facility. MGM Springfield is expected to open on September 2018.
