Massachusetts regulator votes to support MGM Springfield
The gaming commission unanimously voted to support the casino’s application for a state historic preservation award.
US.- The Massachusetts Gaming Commission reported that last week it voted unanimously support MGM Springfield’s application for a state historic preservation award, as it praises its unique design.
The support letter submitted to the Massachusetts Historical Commission says that in the global gaming industry, the regulator is confident that there is not a project that compares with the distinctiveness of MGM Springfield, and goal to be a destination located “in the heart of an urban community.”
The casino is being considered for the Historical Commission’s annual preservation awards in the category of “Adaptive Reuse” projects, and a member of the regulator asked for its support of the application at a regular meeting on Thursday.
“[The commission] routinely acknowledged the incredible uniqueness of this facility — its open and accessible design as well as its many historic preservation projects and tributes to the city’s rich and innovative history,” reads the letter.
