MGM Springfield opens today
The company is celebrating the opening of its new casino, MGM Springfield, which starts operating today in Massachusetts.
US.- MGM Resorts is strengthening its business presence in the United States with the opening of its latest project, MGM Springfield. The casino will be inaugurated at 11 am ET in the State of Massachusetts, after the company was able to sort out several disputes with business competitors from the region.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission confirmed this week that the brand new casino and resort is now able to begin its operations as they received the final approval from State’s authorities. The Massachusetts Gaming Commissioner Bruce Stebbins gave permission last Wednesday for the casino to open.
”As MGM Springfield prepares to open its doors, the MGC remains focused on ensuring that our policies and procedures protect the integrity of the industry and safeguard fair play for patrons,” Stebbins said.
The inside of the facility is designed to feature Springfield-themed details, such as books from the local library archives, as well as local authors and antiques from the Brimfield Antique Flea Market. Michael Mathis, President and COO MGM Springfield, said that they wanted the facility to be comfortable and to feel like it has been there “for a while.”
The casino space is located on one floor and features more than 2,500 slot machines and the state’s first gaming tables, including Roulette, Blackjack and poker rooms. “We’re giving folks a reason to come back to Springfield to re-invest to take the capital that has been on the sidelines and put it to work and building our great city once again,” said General Manager Alex Dixon.
